The Buildings Show 2025: Paving the Way for Canada’s Construction Future

Countdown to The Buildings Show 2025: A Premier Event for Canada’s Construction Industry

For over 35 years, The Buildings Show has stood as a beacon for those involved in Canada’s building industry. This dynamic event unites leaders, innovators, and practitioners for three exhilarating days of learning, networking, and discovery. Slated to run from December 3–5, 2025, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, this year promises to deliver an experience better than ever before.

A Convergence of Expertise

The Buildings Show envelops a multitude of exhibitions under one roof, including notable segments such as Construct Canada, PM Expo, Homebuilder & Renovator Expo, and the World of Concrete Toronto Pavilion. This comprehensive platform represents a convergence of the diverse corners of Canada’s construction and design sectors.

With expanded trade show space and double the networking receptions, attendees will find an unparalleled opportunity to not only gain knowledge but also explore solutions tailored to contemporary challenges. More than 120 sessions and workshops will be available, covering a spectrum of topics crucial for driving projects forward.

Exciting New Features for 2025

One of the highlights this year is the introduction of WoodWorks, a collaboration with the Canadian Wood Council. This integration emphasizes technical expertise and sustainable materials, enhancing the relevance of the event in today’s eco-conscious market. New programming on Fridays, alongside offsite WoodWorks educational sessions, serves to expand the scope of learning opportunities for participants looking to deepen their understanding of wood construction and sustainability.

The series kicks off with a notable voice in the industry: Clive Thurston, President of Thurston Consulting Services. With over 40 years of experience, Clive has held multiple roles throughout his illustrious career, from superintendent to project manager, and even owner/operator of a Toronto-based construction company. His tenure as the former president of the Ontario General Contractors Association underscores his commitment to advocating for the construction industry while fostering a culture of safety.

In the first video, Clive discusses the distinctive aspects that make Canada’s construction industry stand out on a global scale. His insights are not only valuable but also reflective of the unique challenges and opportunities that domestic contractors face.

Insightful Session on Project Risk Management

Clive will also be a featured presenter at The Buildings Show, leading a vital session titled “Navigating Project Risk: From Tendering to Closeout” on Wednesday, December 3, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This session is designed to explore the multiple risk factors that impact project success. Attendees can expect to gain actionable strategies for minimizing claims, enhancing communication among stakeholders, and ensuring projects remain on track from initiation to completion.
