The preview provided a platform for Canada, the partner country, to unveil groundbreaking innovations and sustainable initiatives, securing exclusive insights from the country’s delegation and six standout exhibitors. We delve deeper into the highlights attendees can expect from this pivotal event in the industrial technology landscape.

A Canadian Powerhouse at Hannover Messe

Hannover Messe stands as the world’s premier industrial trade fair, and 2025 promises a formidable representation from Canada, alongside established names in various industrial sectors. This year’s exhibitors will bring forth solutions ranging from energy efficiency to machine learning, quantum computing, and AI-driven automation, setting the stage for transformative industry advancements.

Canada: Soaring Innovations from Flight Simulators to Electric Dreams

Canada’s presence as the partner country signifies its ambition to solidify its role on the global industrial map. Christina Bilyk, Senior Director at Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada, expressed the nation’s excitement:

“Canada is really excited because we’re a partner country this year at Hannover Messe. We’re bringing over 220 Canadian exhibitors along with a large number of delegates. Close to 1,000 Canadians will be in Hannover at the beginning of April.”

The Canadian pavilion, prominently situated in Hall 2, will showcase the nation’s strengths across diverse sectors, including R&D, clusters, startups, and quantum pioneers.

AI and Quantum Computing: Canada at the Forefront

Digital technologies, particularly AI, will be the focal point in Hall 17. Prominent companies like OpenText and BlackBerry are set to highlight Canada’s leadership in AI research. Bilyk emphasized:

“Canada is very strong in AI research, and we have remarkable companies working in this sphere, along with our three prominent Canadian National AI Institutes: Amii, Mila, and Vector.”

Emerging AI startups, including Xanadu, will also showcase innovations in quantum computing, amplifying Canada’s influence in the space.

Sustainability as a Pillar

Sustainability will undoubtedly be a core theme at the fair, with firms like Hatch and Eavor demonstrating pioneering circular solutions. A standout exhibit, the Project Arrow Electric Vehicle, will illustrate Canada’s capabilities in sustainable manufacturing.

Bilyk also mentioned:

“It’s a concept car meant to showcase what Canada can accomplish regarding sustainability.”

Hannover Messe serves as a crucial event for Canada, aiming to foster collaborations with industry leaders and explore trade opportunities via Canada’s Trade Commissioners service.


Innovations from European Manufacturers: A Global Perspective

igus®: Sustainable Motion Solutions

The German manufacturer igus® is set to unveil multiple innovations focusing on sustainability. Kira Weller, Product Manager at igus®, explained their commitment to high-quality, sustainable solutions without increasing costs.

Highlights include:

  • Cleanroom-Quality E-Chains: Developed in collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute, these chains achieved ISO class 4 standards after extensive testing.

  • Eco-Friendly Materials: igus® introduces PTFE- and PFAS-free materials for their iglidur bearings, setting a benchmark in the industry.

  • Recycling Initiatives: Their E2 E-Chain series will utilize recycled materials, significantly reducing CO2 emissions.

Eco2Grow: Empowering SMEs with Green Energy

The energy firm Eco2Grow aims to revolutionize energy access for SMEs through a fintech B2B SaaS platform that facilitates direct procurement from solar and wind farms. Co-founder Paul Appel explained:

“We assist industrial SMEs in lowering their energy costs and CO2 emissions by helping them procure energy directly from renewable sources.”

Festo: The Incredible Machine

Celebrating its 100th anniversary, Festo will unveil the “Festo Incredible Machine,” which reflects automation technology’s evolution. The exhibit will capture the entire journey of movement initiated by a butterfly’s wing.

Sabine Lückfeldt from Festo detailed the company’s direction towards sustainability:

“When customers want to buy certain components, we check if it meets their energy efficiency needs.”

Siemens: Accelerating Pharmaceuticals with Industrial AI

Siemens is targeting the pharmaceutical industry with solutions designed to shorten drug development timelines. Christoph Krösmann emphasized their Industrial Co-Pilot, an AI tool assisting in production documentation and boosting operational efficiency.

Their efforts also include implementing sustainable practices throughout their production processes.
