KPMG Strengthens Digital Twin Capabilities with LlamaZOO Acquisition

In a strategic move to enhance its digital twin capabilities, KPMG in Canada has acquired the assets and technologies of LlamaZOO Interactive. This acquisition is expected to significantly empower organizations with advanced AI-enabled spatial business intelligence systems and digital mapping decision-making tools, thereby revolutionizing how businesses approach complex data.

The Brains Behind LlamaZOO

For over a decade, LlamaZOO has been at the forefront of Spatial Business Intelligence (SBI). Utilizing a proprietary technology platform, the company’s family of software products enables organizations to process large and complex datasets effectively. By employing both 2D and 3D digital twins, their technology facilitates contextual experiences that promote high-quality decisions made with remarkable speed.

The concept of digital twins involves creating accurate virtual representations of physical objects. This innovative approach allows companies to harness real-time data from a multitude of sources, simulating real-world scenarios through machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies. Grant emphasizes that digital twin technology can facilitate the development of strategies for diverse scenarios, using data to assess various outcomes. This capability enables organizations to make faster, informed decisions, ultimately resulting in higher productivity and reduced costs.

The Digital Twin Centre of Excellence

Under the leadership of Matt Grant, KPMG has established a newly enhanced Digital Twin Centre of Excellence (CoE). This center is dedicated to the development and deployment of digital twin and spatial business intelligence systems, targeting industries pivotal to Canada’s productivity, energy, infrastructure, and future trade. The CoE embodies KPMG’s commitment to fostering innovation and helps clients harness the power of technology effectively.

Charles Lavigne, co-founder of LlamaZOO, also joined KPMG as part of the acquisition. He believes that KPMG’s extensive experience with digital twins and AI complements LlamaZOO’s expertise, unlocking new possibilities for Canadian and global organizations to make informed decisions.

According to Marc Low, Director of Innovation and Emerging Technology at KPMG Ignition Vancouver, the acquisition is a significant stride toward advancing intelligent business systems. With the recent integration of LlamaZOO’s platform into KPMG’s Agentic AI Engine, they are poised to create robust environments where real-world data, spatial intelligence, and AI converge to train, test, and deploy increasingly autonomous systems.

Digital twins are rapidly emerging as the foundational platforms for agentic AI. The blend of these technologies can enhance operational resilience and unlock fresh opportunities in scenario planning, simulation, and decision intelligence.

Expanding Opportunities for Innovation

Ian Wilshaw, a partner in KPMG’s Deal Advisory practice, noted that beyond acquiring cutting-edge technology, KPMG is also investing in a highly innovative team. With LlamaZOO’s talent at their disposal, KPMG aims to scale innovations within the Canadian market while helping businesses compete with greater confidence.

LlamaZOO’s dedicated team of seven, including co-founders Charles Lavigne and Kevin Oke, will now be integrated into KPMG’s Ignition hub for advanced technologies, based in Victoria. This collaboration is poised to bolster Canada’s vibrant tech ecosystem, enabling a more agile and innovative future.

KPMG in Canada is set to showcase LlamaZOO’s spatial business intelligence technology at the upcoming Web Summit Vancouver, from May 27-30, at Booth E147.
